Louisiana's tax-free hurricane recovery loan capacity running low
Nearly all the tax-free borrowing available to private businesses in Louisiana through a hurricane recovery program called the Gulf Opportunity Zone Act has been committed, with hundreds of millions of dollars in requests still outstanding.
The program has been much more successful than anticipated, and state officials said Thursday they are considering ways to ensure projects that have been approved for GO Zone money - capped by the federal government - is actually used, rather than lost. More >
